Invoice

Objective

In this exercise, you will create a custom invoice that uses form charges.

Facts

Create an invoice called "Tutorial", set form charges for Form 1040 and Schedule C, and setup the invoice to omit the printing of the client number. For the tutorial invoice, the form charges will be $10 for each form.

Program Considerations

With Lacerte's Invoice feature, you can automatically generate invoices for each client that include appropriate fees for the forms and schedules you prepare.

You have the option to charge per form or per item and to include sales tax. In addition, you can assign discounts on a per-client basis and assign an invoice template to each client using entries in the client detail screen.

How?

To create a custom invoice:

  1. On the Settings menu, click Client Invoice.
  2. Click Add at the bottom of the Invoice Schedule window.
  3. Click Yes when you are prompted to copy the Default Invoice Setup.
  4. Enter "Tutorial" for the invoice name.
  5. The new invoice displays in the List of Invoice Schedule box with a corresponding schedule number.
  6. Click the Form Charges tab.
  7. In the Amount column for Form 1040, enter 10.00.
  8. Scroll down to Schedule C and enter 10.00 in the Amount column.
  9. Click Close and then click Yes to save changes.
  10. To assign the new invoice schedule to a client, select the client and click the Detail tab.
  11. Under the General section, click Invoice, Letter, Filing Instr.
  12. In the Client Invoice section, enter the number of the tutorial invoice you just created in the Invoice schedule number field.

Tips & Shortcuts

Click Print at the bottom of the Invoice Setup window to print the invoice settings for the selected invoice. We recommend that you keep a printed copy of your settings for reference.

Troubleshooting

Problem: I cannot access the Invoice Setup window.

Solution: You do not have access to this option. See your network or program administrator.
