Interactive Input
PrerequisitesYou should be familiar with or have completed the Adding Clients exercise. ObjectiveIn this exercise, you will view the Interactive input method of entering client detail and learn how it differs from Batch input. FactsAdd a client and open Screen 3.1, Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit. Note the descriptive layout of the screen. Switch from Interactive input to Batch input and contrast the two input methods. Switch back to Interactive input. |

This exercise assumes your input method option is set to Interactive (default). Refer to the Setup exercise in the Before You Prepare a Return module for more information on this option.
Program Considerations
Lacerte allows you to set an input preference in Options. You can set this option to Interactive or Batch, but you can also choose either input method from the Detail tab.
How?
To open Screen 3.1, Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit:
- Add a sample client and access the Detail input.
- Click the Contents tab.
- Click Screen 3, Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.
To switch to Batch input:
- On the Detail menu, click Switch to Batch.
To switch back to Interactive input:
- On the Detail menu, click Switch to Interactive.
Tips & Shortcuts
You can switch input methods by pressing [Ctrl]+[W].
Troubleshooting
Problem: I can't switch input methods.
Solution: You must be at the Detail tab to select an input method.
